Creationtide - Day 8. Beyond The Farthest Mortal Eye Can Scan (DNA)

Throughout Creationtide, 1st September - 4th October, there will be a daily posting of material to help us reflect on the various themes associated with this period in the Church’s year.

You will be very welcome and as many of the items reflect the biggest challenge of our times (notwithstanding Covid 19), I hope you might encourage other like-minded people to join us on this 34 day pilgrimage. 

In any cycle of prayer or meditation, we need to step back and examine our own actions. Today’s post  gives an opportunity to do that and to think of the times that we want to take paths that lead to damage being done to others, to ourselves and to this beautiful planet that sustains us.

our genetic string,

making each an individual;

wondrous varying

of four base nucleic acids

shared by every living thing.

Deep within this comprehension,

fresh insights abound

of disease and diagnosis;

glimpses so profound

they demand new understandings

needing wise and re-thought bounds.

Fundamental are these questions,

on a broad’ning scale,

with life prospects, changing often

old precepts can fail.

Pray as bound’ries need reframing,

Godly wisdom may prevail.
