Prayer for Scientists/ A Science and Faith Event

In April 2016 there was a Science and Religion seminar in Ely led by The Revd Professor David Wilkinson on the subject of ‘What Happens When We Pray?’ (The title of his recent book)

Canon Victoria Johnson was asked to offer an appropriate prayer and wrote the following in a rapid burst of creativity.

It is produced below with her permission and may be useful for other similar events

Almighty and eternal God,

God of electrons and black holes and supernovas.

God of DNA and mitochondria and single-cell organisms.

God of H₂0, CO2 and even C60, (the organic molecule, Buckminsterfullerene!) 

May our minds be open to the delights that can be revealed through Science and Technology.

May we be open to questions and mindful of your grace revealed through Jesus Christ,

the origin of all things, the Alpha and the Omega point,

the risen Lord who through a nature beyond nature,

trampled down death by death,

And gave us the endless song, Alleluia. Amen.
