Lord of creation,
our salvation
and holy Inspiration;
may I, Your unworthy servant
come to know You more clearly,
to love You more dearly,
to follow You more nearly,
day by day.
About this prayer
In July 2015 I spent quite a lot of waiting time whilst Pam, my wife was undergoing knee surgery and recuperation. As well as praying for her I also wanted a short memorable prayer for me to offer through this time. I have long liked the rhyming phrases of the prayer of Richard of Chichester so I have taken the liberty of putting three simple rhyming phrases at the beginning, calling on the Triune God.
For those who would prefer the original
version, it goes
Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits Thou hast given me, for all the pains and insults thou
hast borne for me. O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother, may I know
thee more clearly, love thee more dearly and follow thee more nearly, day by
day.
