Dance of the Universe

Gaze at the heavens on bright cloudless nights,

See all the stars in their westerly flights

treading the measures which God fore-ordained

that we can observe in night-time’s domain

            Dance of the Universe,

            Pattern of God,
            Show us the path

            That creation has trod

Suns partner planets with numberless moons,

Weaving their figures to mystical tunes:

Vast whirling galaxies sing of his grace

As they describe their gyrations in space

            Chorus

Great tracts of emptiness show us God’s might

Keep him and distant worlds far beyond sight:

Fierce suns exploding erupt in a blaze

Pale imitations of light from his face

            Chorus

Out of this vastness, our God did select

Frail human beings to be his elect;

Sent us his Son to redeem our whole race,

Letting us share in his infinite grace
