Cascade of stars. CGI by the author
Still
in the Dark!
Century twenty-one dot twelve
And we’re still in the dark:
There’s hidden matter way out there
Amidst each starry spark.
It’s baffling astrophysicists,
Cosmologists can’t see
What makes up eighty-five per cent
Of all that space might be.
No doubt we will uncover
This puzzlement ere long,
Dark filaments of who-knows-what
Float lightlessly along?
And, something else that’s hidden -
Yes! a further mystery,
The puzzling notion we now name
As dark, dark energy.
Our probing’s sure to realize
These twin perplexities.
Our telescopes reveal to us
New cosmic verities.
But as computers number-crunch
These scads of information,
The insights might pose questions new
About God’s great creation.
