leapt into being,
while elements, suns,
galaxies, nebulae
and the hosts
of the universe began to form,
You, the well-spring of eternity,
poured silence,
into the deep voids
between the aggregates of the universe:
a prefiguring of
a future gift to mortals
of stillness and peace.
In the silence
of the depths of our beings,
when noise is banished,
we can discover
You, the Creator God.
In the silence
of crucifixion’s death and din,
where terror is present
we can discover
You, the Redeemer God.
In the silence
of petrifying vulnerability,
when faith is struggling
we can discover
You, the Comforter God.
In the profound silences
flowing from the community
of the Trinity,
We can discover
Your deep and all-embracing peace
And in the silences that you might be able to find, you might like to offer A Prayer for Understanding
And in the silences that you might be able to find, you might like to offer A Prayer for Understanding
