Our sun
drops away
in the west;
and one by one
other suns
glisten
in a darkening sky.
Though faint
to our eyes,
each light point
radiates through
billions of miles
of vibrant darkness.
That light, Lord,
is from you,
given by
your gracious hand;
given by
pierced hands
that conquer darkness.
