If I Could Pour Out Acclaim.

If I Could Pour Out Acclaim

If I could pour out acclaim

in the tongues of every nation,

every race and every tribe,

I could still not adequately express

the boundlessness of your glory,

the illimitable nature of your love,

the awesomeness of your creativity,

nor the depth of your longing

for justice and truth.

May my inadequate prayers, Dear Lord,

nevertheless be heard by you,

with your ever-gracious acceptance.

And may such endeavours

stir up in me

a deeper and deeper desire

to render you

intercessions,

that begin with

contrition for the past,

then tremble with

a yearning to discern

your loving will for my future,

and your ways.

The theme of the first verse has, in considerable ways been motivated by the many cover versions of ’The Blessing’ , a musical rendering of the Aaronic Blessing (Numbers 6 verses 24 - 26), which was recorded and published on 8th March - just before the UK lockdown - by Elevation Worship in Ballantyine in North Carolina. The writers are Cindy Morgan & Ginny Owens.

Of the many versions (I have found more than 80), I particularly like this one from Belgium with its remarkable multi-ethnic virtual choir who turn out to be at least quadri-lingual if there is such a word! You can find that version HERE
