Hail Heaven’s Bright Sun

This poem celebrating Christ as Creator and Redeemer is best read at a fair pace

Hail heaven’s bright sun, Jesus in glory:
He is the source of creation’s wild story.
Particles streaming from no-one knows where
Clump and collide making atoms appear.
Hydrogen, helium, plasma extreme
kindling a fusion as molecules stream
forming elements common and elements rare.
Then stars, planets, galaxies start to appear.
Later, our sun and its planets take shape,
among them our earth with life-giving landscape.
Eventually humans emerge with a brain
that allows them to ponder this cosmic terrain.
Was it chance? Was it planned? Was it God’s mighty Word?
Each can choose: but consider - a Saviour, our Lord
has shared here on earth his Gospel of love,
that great cosmic power, streamed from heaven’s abode.
