Meditation for the Internet.
(A Little Canticle in Psalm form)
Through the resources of the earth and the skills that you have enabled to be developed in brilliant technological minds, Lord, the world has been endowed with unprecedented opportunities to communicate.
Person to person, country to country, corporation to corporation, globally.
This gift can be used for good or for every shade of evil.
It can make your Word, your love, your truth and your justice known throughout the world.
But it also harbours unwarranted vilification, scammers, pornographers, blatant liars, fabricators of fake news, those who groom the vulnerable for their own heinous ends; distributors of addictive, dangerous and falsely described substances and products; malign conspiracy theorists, unprincipled lenders and bookmakers, and a host of other evil doers.
Over and again, we see, with distress, evidence of these people prospering.
Why, Lord, are these unscrupulous people able to advance themselves to the disadvantage of the innocent and the unwary?
May they have no joy from their evil: may their evil rebound and utterly destroy them: may they be put to confusion and sickened by the darkness they disseminate.
Then, dear Lord, fill your people with gladness: let them give thanks and sing praise for all that is righteous and Holy.
This was a work in progress for several weeks - but suddenly seemed to need to be completed.
